Casa Bonay
Like Staying with an Old Friend
At the Casa Bonay you can experience an authentic Barcelona like no other. Old and new fuse together as a normal way of life in this unique hotel, which is proud of its hospitality and accessibility.
Sara: When did you found Casa Bonay and which idea & inspiration stood behind it ?
Inés Miró-Sans: The first ideas towards Casa Bonay started eight years ago, but we found the building three years ago. The inspiration is based on our life experiences. We just put and continue to put together all the things we love and do. We have 67 rooms.
Sara: Why the name „Casa Bonay”?
Inés: Bonay was the last name of the owner of the building in the year 1869.
Sara: What concept are you following with your hotel and which added value do you provide your guests?
Inés: As said before all the content and concept we are working and focusing on is based on the things we like to do. We work on very approachable things and things that we will deliver to our friends and family, for us our guests are the same. For example, next Thursday we are bringing Marzia and Marcello (mother and son). Marzia has owned a restaurant in Parma for more than 30 years, a really well known classic restaurant and Marcello is a consolidated DJ of ItaloDisco. We are putting together one night where the mother cooks and son DJ’s. In a more global concept the difference between Casa Bonay and other hotels is that we just put together a group of people that apart from doing collaborations, they keep on working with us and more valuable than that - they are friends so it really feels like an extension of Barcelona and not a hotel that is in Barcelona. This is just possible because we grew up here and we totally understand the way of living.
Sara: What else is special about Casa Bonay?
Inés: Our guests will live in a house from 1869. We renewed the hall building, but kept its original floors, doors and corridors. There is just a couple of hotels more, who did that in Barcelona.
Sara: Tell me about the concept that follows your interior decoration. Which design studios did you collaborate with?
Inés: For the main design of the hotel we’ve worked with Studio Tack. But we worked with many different designers like Marc Morro from AOO for furniture, Santa&Cole for lightning, baTabasTa for textiles…
Sara: Is Casa Bonay a one time experience, or are you planning on opening more hotels?
Inés: It is a completely one-time experience, that will evolve with the time. For the moment, we are focusing on putting the product on the right place.
